Illumine Journal is a twice-yearly exploration of the sacred in global art and culture. Just as reading scripture and performing rituals can help us transcend the mundane, the creation and contemplation of great art, be it a sculpture or a painting, an opera or a poem, a movie or a novel, can lead us into the realm of the sacred. Each edition of Illumine Journal will explore how artists and academics, philosophers and filmmakers, and writers and musicians express and engage with the ineffable. The sacred in all traditions will feature, there is no border we will not cross, no point in time we will not travel to.
